Chicago here we come!

(photo: Art Hill)

When I first met PHD he described himself as the true "wandering Jew" since he loves to travel and I can hardly name a place that he hasn't already been. (This will make choosing a honeymoon destination interesting to say the least!) While I have never been much of a traveler, PHD has decided this should change. New places and spending time with PHD...what more could I ask for?

I've always wanted to go to Chicago since the Art Institute has one of my very favourite paintings there. Then I found out that Chicago is the home of awesome authours like Elaine Soloway and Amy Guth. And now, most importantly it is where PHD is from and his daughter lives there where she works at the Lincoln Park Zoo.

Well...looks like I am finally going to take that trip! We have plane tickets in hand and will be heading to the "Windy City"! I'm so excited (and thankful that he didn't decide this trip needed to happen in the wintertime.)

Chicago is a nice city. They have about three months of nice weather, just not consecutive.

Check out the Science Museum, it is great.

I hate to say that Jack is right. We are, however having a burst of good weather in the next week. Lincoln Park Zoo is fabulous - just watch out for parking! The Peggy Notebaart Nature Museum is close by, and wonderful. My kids loved it, especially the butterfly garden. Email me if you need any suggestions...

Um, I think there's an AMERICAN GIRL store in Chicago. If Lo's with you, you might just want to avoid that stretch of street...otherwise, you'll have to invest in the company, and buy out the store.

Have a great time.

How exciting. Make sure you see the Georges Seurat together!

Orieyenta! How long are you staying?

Hooray Orieyenta is coming to my neck of the woods...Sort of. Chicago is a bit far from me but still in the same state. So yay! Have an awesome trip and if you want any more ideas on things to do or places to shop/browse, lemme know! I may not live nearby but that doesn't mean I don't know the Windy City :-)

Jack - Well hopefully I'll be there for one of the nice months.

AMM - I'm hoping we won't have parking issues at the zoo since PHD's daughter works there. I'm sure I'll be e-mailing you for suggestions - thanks for the offer!

Pearl - I am well aware of that fact - and I am scared of the amount of money that can be spent in that store!

Neil - that's our plan since he basically planned this trip for me because I had mentioned that I have always wanted to see the Seurat works there!

Amy - We'll be there for 5 days. It should be loads of fun...if we're lucky you'll be doing a reading somewhere!

Hila - thanks for the offer! I am sure I'll be e-mailing you.

Z - thanks!

Last time we had a visiting blogger, we (me, TherapyDoc, Little Frumhouse, Jewish Fringe, Shalvster, and Matthue) all got together at a kosher joint for a blogger dinner. I'm sure we would organize one while you are here if'n you want one organized.
