What not to wear

This is what happens when a Floridian tries to dress for cold weather. (Yes - it was in the 60's this morning and we were FREEZING.)

This is also what happens when LO picks out her own clothes. What you can't see in the picture is that her sneakers have PINK trim on them.

When I came downstairs and saw her I tried not to giggle but the look on my face must have told all and she knew that there was a possibility that she just might not match so well, so she said, "Do I look meshugge? I have another plaid skirt I could wear instead."

Um...I don't think another plaid skirt would fix it sweetie.

(I should probably add that when I asked her to let me take this picture she said, "No! You're going to show it to all your friends." Boy, does this kid know me or what?)

I just don't get into it. If DS wants to wear his (favorite) green plastic frog boots (yes shaped like frogs) with his pink fuzzy pajamas (which he calls sweaties, and why not? they aren't appreciably different than a sweatsuit in function) to gan, what do I care? As long as we get there on time, which is harder to arrange if I have to struggle with him about his clothes.

Oh...that outfit...it is just so wrong....

On the other hand, I also had a problem with emm...matching things when I was a kid. And look how I turned out!

Oh. Well. Maybe don't. Never mind!

I think it's all in the attitude - the orange/pink/red combos that were a terrible clashing no-no when I was a kid somehow look cute and funky on little girls nowadays. LO ought to wear her contrasting patterns with pride.

Of course, this is coming from me - I mostly wore mismatched thrift store concoctions in my teen years much to my own mother's chagrin (though we could afford for me to wear first-hand clothes). Wonder if I'll get it back from Ann, Andy, or Little Rag?

I am particularly thrilled with her natural use of Yiddish ;)
