I'm not ashamed to admit that I live a caffeine driven life. And I do know that it is important to taper off the caffeine prior to a fast. So, here it is the 17th of Tammuz. Guess who already has a headache? (Oy, somebody please remind me to lay off the caffeine before Tisha B'Av!)
May we all have an easy fast.

I have to admit to a throbbing headache, too.
My husband quits caffeine every year a week before 17 Tamuz, and stays off of it until Yom Kippur.
I suffer through each fast day with the caffeine headache, but I'm much easier to live with in-between!
Have an easy and meaningful fast, Oriyenta.
Oy, caffeine headaches are the pits! Have an easy fast!
I don't get the laying off caffeine before fasts. Doesn't that just result in a week's worth of headaches instead of one day's?
I just got up at 4 a.m. this morning, had a cup of Joe and went back to sleep. No headache here.
The last thing I will have before tisha b'av is a strong cup of coffee. Hopefully it will get me through most of the next day.
Only 7 hours to go (give or take), here in Massachusetts.
Am I the only one who has found herself in the kitchen half a dozen times today, thinking, "you know what I could use...Oh. Yeah. Nevermind."
It could be worse. Really, it could be.
JF - Sounds like your husband has a good plan. I may try to taper it down at least.
RM - Thanks!
MoC - Sounds like a great idea...except for that 4am part!
Jack - you're right - it could be a full fast.
i quit coffee during pesach--strong strong temptation to go back between pesach and now, but when i had my EASIEST FAST EVER during 17th tamuz i knew that i had truly had my yetziat mitzraim from coffee.
it's now caffeinated chai and pepsi for this sleep-deprived grad student now =).
Have an easy fast...with lots of excedrin! :)
