An animal encounter

So, while Neil is writing about pigeons on his porch, Babka Nosher is writing about her dog Rudy's antics, we learn just how much Amishav loves cats, and Jack has something to say about his love of cats as well, I have a little animal story of my very own.

Yesterday I stepped into the shower and turned the water on. I turned to reach for the soap and guess what I found in the shower...

If you guessed a RAT, then you guessed right. Umm...but it wasn't quite as cute as this picture. Oh and another thing...it was DEAD. Apparently the cat thought she needed to bring us a present. Oh the joys of an indoor/outdoor cat.

(BTW - LO's reaction was a very dramatic "EWWWWW!!!" But then her curious side took over as she visually inspected our dead little friend...."Mama, how come the rat doesn't have a tail?" Do we have to say kaddish?)

And why does this song keep playing in my head?

*Special thanks to our friend SS who so bravely removed our dead little friend for us! (There was NO WAY I was moving that darn thing!)

OMG! I thought that we had sole jurisdiction over the rat population here in NYC! A year ago, when we caught 4 mice, was so creepy and horrifying! I really sympathize!

I probably would have moved!

Ew. I am the only one in my apartment who is comfortable with the removal of "wildlife."

Guess it comes from growing up in a place where your showers have gekos, and cockroaches are the size of your palm.

Oriyenta, It has been a while since I have looked at your site. I am all caught up now, although I must admit being best friend El, I have lived these things with you. First and foremost, I am with Neil, the for sale sign would have long been up. When PHD returned from work there would be a forwarded address for him! As you and Lo know I am really big on stuffed animals and am totally freaked out by anything living.

I once stepped into the shower and found a live rat waiting there for me. And no, I am not talking about an ex-wife.

Oh, blecch!!! I don't think my lazy kitties would ever catch a rat.

Hey, at least it wasn't a cicada! We had one of those monsters flapping around under our bed last night...

Orie- that has to be the cutest RAT ever! Do we get a picture of the real rat?

Oh yuck. Oh gross. Why didn't you and LO check into a hotel immediately? As my daughter knows... I don't DO rodents.

RM - Maybe they go south for the winter or they retire down here :)

Neil - believe me, I told PHD that if I found another one, we are moving!

Annie - Being comfortable with the removal of "wildlife" makes you worth your weight in GOLD. Hmm...would that be the place where Little Orieyenta is from?

El - so if we brought one of these guys over to you house, you'd give us the whole house for free?

Jack - That's just wrong. ;)

AMM - Ooo - I am so hoping I don't get to see any of those cicada things - they are so CREEPY.

Ami - that's just gross. But spoken like a true Dad with 2 boys.

BN - We would have but thankfully it was in the morning and I had to go to work.

Wait until you hear the rest of the story.

Some say it is a bad luck to have a dead rat in your house, let alone in your shower. Not good if you are on the receiving end of that one. Yikes!!

Jack - I'm waiting with baited breath.

Z - Believe me, I wanted to!

Anon - Good thing I'm not superstitious. I'll stick to the vet's explanation that the cat was either trying to feed me or trying to tell me that she likes me.
