She said that the lady had given her the greatest gift, and she was sorry that she wasn't there to share it with her. But I think that adopting a child and raising it in a loving, nurturing home as your own (as you should!) is a double gift: for the "new" mom, and for the birth mom as well...you are doing something so special that she is grateful in her heart for you, whether or not she can see her little mentchette!
